Look through our catalog and you'll notice a pattern: kettles, scoops, filter holders, knock boxes — most of it is stainless steel, not plastic. That wasn't an accident.
Plastic degrades near heat. A kettle spout, a dripper that sits under near-boiling water for months, a scoop that gets left near a hot burner — plastic in daily contact with heat eventually leaches flavor and, eventually, cracks. Stainless doesn't.
It also just lasts. A well-made steel tool from a brand like Fellow or Hario is something you replace because you want a new color, not because it broke. That matters more to us than shaving a few euros off a price tag.
We didn't rule out plastic entirely. Where it's the right material — some AeroPress components, for instance, engineered specifically for that job — we kept it. This isn't a purity test. It's picking the material that does the job longest.
